Postnatal care After the birth A routine postpartum visit is advised between four to six weeks after delivery. This is a time to assess the woman’s adjustment to life with a new infant and discuss: any questions regarding the pregnancy, delivery, and ongoing medical problems infant feeding and immunization pregnancy spacing and contraception continuing problems with vaginal bleeding, urinary or fecal incontinence The uterine size and perineum can be checked and cervical screening updated.
